Yes. We ate at Art's every Homecoming weekend. It was bought out by
the Brown Derby and is now the private arabic school in Gainesville.
It is where Steve Martin got the entire bar to hide in the median
while he hitchhiked at closing time. Everyone rushed any driver who
stopped. My ex-brother-in-law told me about doing that long before we
heard about it from any other source.
Louis' Lunch has the best onion rings in town, but are frequently
sold out on Mondays (after the weekend). I've been eating there for
over 10 years and have not seen coleslaw on the burgers. The burgers
are fried in an iron skillet in Lawry's Seasoned Salt.

Is anyone else old enough to recall enjoying Art's Steak House on
SW 13th just before getting to Payne's Prairie? BTW, David, no part
of Archer Road is East of the UF campus. I do not recall the In and
Out burger place.

Subject: [gatortalk] Gainesville restaurants
Saving all the cut & paste time to get to the point – I was at UF
from 73 – 78 (under the 5-year plan) and recall a few great
restaurants:
Sonny’s Fat Boy BBQ – South of UF on 13th.
Tony & Pat’s – Italian just North of Sonny’s
The aforementioned Primrose Inn – next to Nichol’s Alley & near
The Great Southern Music Hall
Manaro’s – Italian east of town.
Capt. Louie’s – seafood near campus on 13th
Joe’s Deli – near campus, south on 13th
In & Out Hamburgers – somewhere east of campus & finally on Archer
Rd.
It’s late, but I’m hungry.
Go Gators!
