A lens the size of a pinhole will never create images remotely close to what
an HD camera on the sideline will produce.
It doesn't matter what technological advances occur; the optics simply aren't
there - and I don't think that their laws have changed since the day of DaVinci.
That, plus the fan is much further way the the sideline camera. Something
about the square of the distance. A few hundred feet can be a very big deal for
clarity.
Now, even if it were possible, think of the size of an HD video feed. A
dual-layer Blu-Ray is 50GB for a 2 hour movie. Let's call a 3 hour football
game 75GB. Someone thinks a fan with a phone can stream a file that size over
the cell network? I'm not even certain that a USB2 cable would offer that kind
of throughput.
