Chipper Jones went to school right here in Jacksonville, not *near* here. He graduated from The Bolles School in 1989, I think. I know it was shortly after I came to Jacksonville in 1988 because The Bolles School was one of my clients when Chipper was there. He was sent to the boarding school there, probably on at least partial scholarship, and played football, basketball and baseball. I heard a lot about him when I was working on their audit on campus. ;-)
My husband says he was from the Deland area. I wish he had played at UF, but he didn't go to college at all. He was chosen by the Braves right out of high school... first pick in the amateur draft. He was definitely the talk of the town when he was at Bolles. He was my son's favorite player for a long time.
