People on the west coast pay attention to USC football when they are good. In
2002, they had not yet returned to the elite status, at least not high enough
to warrant the devotion of the attention span challenged residents of southern
California.

UT fills their stadium every year, even in a losing season, and the toothless
live and die with their football team.

In SoCal, nothing gets that kind of loyal devotion.

All JMHO, of course.

Kiffin also reminded Tennessee fans that a great quarterback is not made
overnight. He relayed a story about his experience with Carson Palmer at
Southern Cal. Palmer, one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of high
school, led USC to a 6-6 record as a junior in 2001 and a loss to Utah in the
Las Vegas Bowl.“He got beat up a lot because expectations were so high,” Kiffin
said. “The difference was there wasn’t so much attention at SC on the football
program than there is here, so he didn’t have to deal with it like Jonathan
does on an hourly basis.”Really?
People on the West Coast don't pay attention to Southern Cal football, yet UT
is under a media spotlight?
This seems difficult to believe.
