I thought during the game that Spikes looked like something was wrong. He was sluggish getting up and didn’t seem to be playing with intensity. I didn’t know he was injured. I guess with all those other players sick and injured as well, that would account for the lack of a deep passing game. Also, Robbie Andreu mentioned something that I couldn’t really see in the TV. He said, “UF usually sees a lot of man-to-man coverage in the secondary and tries to exploit it with deep throws. Saturday, the Vols sat back in a zone and stayed there all day, limiting what the Gators could even attempt in the passing game.” I’m not sure I completely agree that a zone means you can’t have a passing game, but I guess, when you put this all together, we did what we had to and didn’t try to do what we couldn’t do. As several others said earlier, I’ll definitely take the win, but it’s good to have some explanation for the complete absence of a part of our offense that is usually strong.
