CBS cameras only had one angle. It was clear that the ball did not skip - Berry had a single arm "around" it as he was falling to the ground. The back tip of the ball was on his hand, and the balance of the ball hidden by the angle; either on his forearm (a catch) or sliding through his grip to his chest when he hit the ground (not a catch). Whether the front 3/4s of the ball was pressed against his chest or the ground when he hit seemed to be the issue, and the replay did not resolve that question.
