Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was treated overnight for what is believed to be a concussion from his team's game Saturday against Kentucky.

Tebow had a CT scan that indicated "no bleeding on the brain," a source close to the team told Sporting News late Saturday night. The source said Tebow probably had a "bad concussion."

Florida officials said Tebow would remain in the hospital overnight and didn't fly home with the Gators after their 41-7 victory.

Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and star of the defending national champ Gators, left Saturday's game in the third quarter at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Ky., after what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet hit.

He was struck hard by Kentucky linebacker Taylor Wyndham, who was unblocked on a blitz. As Tebow was falling to the turf, he appeared to get kicked in the head by Gators right tackle Marcus Gilbert, violently bending Tebow's neck forward.

Tebow lay motionless on the turf for a few minutes, but eventually sat up with help and walked off the field under his own power to a loud ovation. His parents came down from the stands to join him.

Florida kicked a field goal on the next snap. Backup QB John Brantley replaced Tebow for the Gators' next offensive series.

After several minutes with trainers on the sideline, Tebow was carted off the field with concussion-like symptoms, vomiting several times as he rode out for treatment and examination.

Near game's end Tebow was taken from the stadium in an ambulance.

Asked about Tebow after the game, Florida coach Urban Meyer said: "I don't know, I think it's a concussion. I think he'll be all right. He took a pretty good shot."
Kentucky coach Rich Brooks called it a clean hit.
Meyer said Tebow had just one question after the hit
.
"He asked me 'Did I hold onto the ball?"' Meyer said. "I told him he did and he winked at me and said 'It's great to be a Gator.' "

Still, the image of their leader laying helpless proved unsettling for the defending national champions.

"He was a little fuzzy coming off the field," Brantley said. "He was looking around. I guess making sure he was in Kentucky."'

Tebow had already had an eventful day: He was one of several flu-ridden Gators who flew to the game on a chartered jet to avoid contact with their teammates.

Tebow ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns in leading Florida to a 31-0 first-quarter lead. He threw for 103 yards and another touchdown. The Gators were leading 31-7 at the time of the injury.

Florida is off next week and then plays LSU on Oct. 10.
