What I think a lot of people miss on this is something that you WOULDN'T see on a video, and that's audio. When I watched the replay, based on the guy's body English (he made a violent motion with his arm after knocking the Gator player down) I'm guessing he said something rather unsportsmanlike to the Gator (as he punctuated with his arm) but I don't know. If that's the case, I wish the ref would speak up. And with nobody else hearing anything, it would certainly "look" like a bad call. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]on Behalf Of Helen Huntley Sent: Tuesday, October 20, 2009 7:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [gatornews] SEC says bad call on Arkansas penalty Importance: Low
SEC: No video proof of Sheppard foul Comment Email Print Share Associated Press LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Southeastern Conference says there's no video evidence to support the personal foul call against Arkansas' Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks' 23-20 loss to Florida. SEC blog ESPN.com's Chris Low writes about all things SEC in his conference blog. • Blog network: College Football Nation The penalty gave the Gators the ball on the Arkansas 10-yard line, and they scored on the next play to tie the game at 20. Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said Monday the school had expressed its concerns to the league. The league said schools can send in plays after each game for review. The SEC said it told Arkansas "there was no evidence on the video to support the personal foul penalty." It was the same group of officials that called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
