Both of you are completely missing Jerry's point. There was no camera on
the goal line. Therefore, the angle is suspect even with the "synched" shot
of the ball apparently out of Doe's grasp as he crossed the goal line.

No, the officials didn't have that technology available. Nor does it prove
anything.

As it is, Doe was credited with a touchdown. If that's bad, I'll volunteer
to go run stadium steps with him. (yet another way to blow off steam along
with bull dozing and blowing things up!)

Let's give the kid a break here.

The shots ESPN provided were "synced" shots taken from two different
cameras. The replay official could only base his call on the shots provided
and needed to be able to see "irrefutable evidence to overturn" from one of
those views. The time-syncing provided by ESPN is a cool idea, and, if
accurate (there's a big if there as far as overturning calls on the field
goes), clearly showed that Doe fumbled before he crossed the line with the
ball.

So we lucked out, but Mullen was incorrect for blaming the replay official
since, in the views he had at his disposal to make the call, overwhelming
evidence to overturn was not present.

Jerry,

They showed 2 still shots later in teh game that clearly showed the ball
coming out of his hand before he crossed the goal line. I don't know if the
officials have access to the same camera feeds as the TV crews do, but it
was plain as day in those still shots they showed. We were VERY lucky and
finally got a bad call to go in our favor for once.
