But what concerns some UM fans is only two are ranked among Rivals.com's top 25 recruits from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. That compares with UF's seven and FSU's three. So what's the deal? UM -- whose class is ranked 14th overall by ESPN -- passed on several standouts who wanted to be Canes. Miami has not pursued eight of those 25, for reasons ranging from academics (UM's standards are tougher than the NCAA's) to position duplication to players' size. Also, UM likes several of its oral commitments much more than Rivals and some other major schools do.
