After 42 wins, junior pitcher Stephanie Brombacher finally has a blemish on her
record in her first start of the season.

No. 5 Florida fell to the No. 14 Georgia Tech, 3-0, on Saturday at the USF
Wilson-DeMarini Tournament at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater.

It marked the first time the Gators (1-1, 0-0 SEC) lost to the Yellow Jackets
(2-0, 0-0 ACC) in the all-time series match-up.

Brombacher (0-1) struck out five and did not allow a walk in the outing. After
allowing the first at bat of the game to single, she did not allow another hit
until the fifth inning.

Senior Francesca Enea led the way for the Gators, going 2-for-3 in the game.
Florida recorded five hits and left eight runners on base. Hope Rush (1-0)
earned the win for Georgia Tech, striking out seven, walking four and nailing a
two-run homer in the sixth.

In the first game of the day, Florida defeated East Carolina, 4-3, fueled by
three home runs by the heart of the lineup. UF freshman starter Ensley Gammel
earned her first career win, striking out seven in her debut.

Junior Kelsey Bruder led the early effort for the Gators, hitting 2-for-3 with
her first homer of the season. Enea and freshman Brittany Schutte also
connected for long balls.

Faith Sutton shouldered the loss for East Carolina (0-1) in the Pirates' first
game of the season.

Florida opens at home on Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Jacksonville at Katie
Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators will sign autographs after the game.

MEN'S TENNIS: At Charlottesville, Va., No. 11 Florida came up just short,
falling 4-3 to No. 3 Ohio State in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team
Indoor Championship at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

"It was obviously extremely close, and we had a chance to win," UF head coach
Andy Jackson said. "Ohio State was just a little stronger than us today. We
were disappointed to lose, but I was pleased that we had the grit to be in a
position where we had a chance to win."

The Gators got off to a good start, taking the doubles point to jump out to an
early lead. At the No. 1 position, 10th-ranked Antoine Benneteau and Alexandre
Lacroix clinched the doubles point with a 9-8 (7) win, extending their winning
streak to nine. Daniel Cash and Bob Van Overbeek grabbed the other doubles
victory for the Gators, also winning in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (3).

In singles, UF received wins from Benneteau at No. 3 and Nassim Slilam at No.
6, who both took their respective match in straight sets.

The Gators play their final match of the ITA Indoors today at 6:30 p.m., when
they will take on either Georgia or host Virginia.
