Isn't Hopson's success more because we shut Chism down? After Chism went out we pretty much stopped Hopson too.

Though his efforts weren't enough to carry the Volunteers past the Gators, Hopson controlled most of the basketball played in the first 20 minutes of the game. If motivation was the reason for Pearl's benching of Hopson, who had started all 26 games prior to Tuesday, he had plenty of it. Hopson first stepped onto the O'Connell Center floor after 3:18 ticked off the clock. Seventeen seconds later, he made his way into the stat sheet by missing a 3-point shot from the left side of the court. He quickly made up for that less than a minute later by draining a 3-pointer from the opposite side, cutting Florida's lead to 13-9 with 15:31 remaining in the first. >From there, it turned into Hopson's half. Not long after getting on the scoreboard, Hopson stepped up almost exactly from where he was for his first 3-point bucket and hit another. Those back-to-back buckets did a great job in blowing all of the Gators' momentum out of the O'Dome. Hopson then led his team on a 15-4 run to give the Vols a 21-17 lead with 11:49 left. In that span, Hopson was 4 of 6 from the field, including going 2 of 3 from beyond the arc, for 10 points. "Coach (Bruce Pearl) definitely challenged me and said I was going to come off the bench this game," Hopson said of his benching. "I felt like this was a must-win and I wanted to step up and that's what I tried to do." The Gators had no answer for Hopson in the first half. When his points weren't frustrating them, his hustle was. The 6-foot-7 shooter did some work on the boards, grabbing three rebounds through the first 20 minutes. Two of those three were on the defensive glass that resulted in five points for UT. Hopson turned his lone offensive rebound into his eighth point of the night with a layup. He closed the half leading all scores with 12 after his dunk with a little more than seven minutes remaining in the half. Florida cut down on Hopson's scoring in the second. He first got on the board with a little under four minutes in with a jumper, but didn't register another bucket until hitting a 3 with 9:05 on the clock. Florida also kept Hopson out of the paint, allowing him just one rebound in the second. Hopson didn't go down without a fight as he dug his team out of a 20-point hole in the second with a 3-pointer at the 2:42 mark to make it 70-53 in favor of the Gators. In the 75-62 loss, Hopson led all scorers with 20 points, going 8 of 15 from the floor, including going 4 of 8 from three land. He also was second for the Vols by playing 31 minutes. "Coach just talks about being focused," Hopson said. "A lot of times I lose that focus on the court. I'm trying to work on keeping that 100 percent of the time." -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
