Interesting test. If I took it, it means I would become a defensive
lineman, then, upon retirement start a singing career.

It does, however, measure quick-thinking, which is pretty key for
quarterbacks. Some famous former NFL player said on radio recently that the
test is half word problems and half math problems - you have 12.5 minutes to
answer 50 questions. Since he was way better at math, he didn't even
attempt to answer any of the word problems until he'd done all the math
ones, and subsequently came up with a rather high score. If there's any
truth to that, too bad Tim was not advised likewise.

Importance: Low

It is obvious the Wonderlic test does not measure intelligence.

I would be very surprised if Brett Favre is smarter than Chris Leak.

Chris was a Draddy Finalist, with a degree in Sociology, and gave the
keynote speech at graduation.

Plus, I've heard the guy interviewed lots and lots, and he is no dummy.

"This is a great honor, but I would not have been able to achieve this
without the guidance from our coaching staff and the Office of Student
Life," said Leak. "Coach Meyer has put a tremendous emphasis on academic
success and graduating and that message has had a positive effect on our
entire team. It is clear that Dr. (Keith) Carodine, Jason Storch and the
entire staff truly cares about how each student-athlete at Florida lives on
and off the field each day. My family has also played a significant role in
showing me the importance of getting my education and I can not thank them
enough for everything they have done to support me. I'd also like to
congratulate the other members of the National Scholar-Athlete Class on
their efforts."

Report: Tebow posts below average 'Wonderlic' score

While some NFL coaches and general managers put a great deal of importance
on the test, others don't. There seems to be no correlation between the test
score and a quarterback's performance in the NFL. NFL Hall of Famer Dan
Marino, for instance, reportedly scored a 12 on the test. Brett Favre, who
is headed to the Hall of Fame, scored the same on the test that Tebow did -
a 22. Peyton Manning had a 28. Former UF quarterback Chris Leak, who did not
make it in the NFL, scored an eight a few years back.

Among current starting quarterbacks in the NFL, the average score on the
Wonderlic was 30.

Based on his academic record at Florida, Tebow is an intelligent guy. He
graduated in December with a cumulative grade point average of 3.66 in
family recreational services. In 2009, he won the National Football
Foundation's academic "Heisman."

As for his potential to become an NFL quarterback, Tebow's throwing motion
and release have received most of the scrutiny over the past two months. He
will reveal his new, tighter throwing motion at UF's annual Pro Day on
Wednesday in The Swamp. The event is open to the public and begins between
10 and 10:30 a.m.
