Wooden Award's "Legends of Coaching Award" on Friday night at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The “Legends of Coaching Award” was adopted by the Wooden Award Committee in 1999. The first recipient was former North Carolina coach Dean Smith. The award recognizes the achievement of coaches who meet Wooden’s standards of on-court success and personal integrity. Others to receive the award include Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski (2000), Arizona coach Lute Olson (2001), former Louisville coach Denny Crum (2002), North Carolina coach Roy Williams (2003), California coach Mike Montgomery (2004), Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun (2005), Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim (2006), former Purdue coach Gene Keady (2007), Tennessee women's coach Pat Summitt (2008) and Texas coach Jim Barnes (2009). Donovan has compiled a 366-159 record in 16 seasons at Marshall and Florida . In 14 seasons at Florida , Donovan has led the Gators to two national titles, three Final Four appearances and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Donovan, 44, is one of just four active men's coaches who have guided teams to multiple national titles. The others are Krzyzewski (4), Williams (2) and Calhoun (2). All rights reserved.
