Bill makes an appearance in more than one Jim Stafford song, most
notably "My Girl Bill."
As Stafford was from Winter Haven, it is likely that the Wildwood he
references in "Wildwood Weed" is the town just south of Gainesville.
We're lucky that it wasn't named "Gainesville Green."
Bizarre trivia - in high school, Stafford was in a band with Lobo
("I'd Love You to Want Me," "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo") and
Graham Parsons of the Byrds.
Bobby Braddock, who went on to co-write the country classic "He
Stopped Lovin' Her Today" and other country hits ("I Wanna Talk About
Me") was also in the band.
