Shane?

You had to forward this one? It was bad enough that Robbie Andreu wrote it.
It was worse the Sun chose to go ahead and include it in the paper for
today.

But, you had to send it to Gatortalk? Do you have any garnet shirts in your
closet we should know about?

It's your Daily Football Fix! Gainesville Sun staff writers are here to help
get you through the long, hot summer with a daily dose of college football.
The series runs every day until the start of fall practice.

And the 2010 Heisman winner is ...

Since it's not even officially summer yet (although it feels like the middle
of July already), it's OK to go ahead and step out on a limb and make
predictions that might be, well, let's just say a little bit of a reach.

So I'm going to make one.

Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder is going to win the Heisman
Trophy this season.

I know, I know. It sounds a little crazy, but hear me out.

Before he ended his 2009 season prematurely by trying to tackle that Clemson
defender who intercepted one of his passes, Ponder was having a big-time
junior season. It's obvious he's found his comfort level in Jimbo Fisher's
offense, and all the important weapons around him return this year in what
should be a Seminole resurgence season.

If FSU gets on a roll and Ponder puts up some huge numbers (and really, he
should based on what he did last season), he's going to rocket to the top of
the list of Heisman contenders.

Let's say FSU upsets Oklahoma in the second week of the season (anyone who
saw OU's lame performance against Miami last year knows this isn't that big
of a reach). If that happens, the Seminoles should be 5-0 going into their
game at Miami. Even if FSU loses that one, the rest of the 'Noles' tough
games are all at home - North Carolina, Clemson and Florida.

There is a chance that the Seminoles could be 10-1 or 9-2 going into the
Florida game in Tallahassee. If that happens and the Seminoles beat the
Gators and Ponder has a big day, he could clinch the Heisman - just like
<http://www.gainesville.com/section/TOPIC0102/> Tim Tebow did against the
Seminoles in 2007.

This scenario may seem far-fetched to some, but hey, it could happen.

So I'm going to go ahead and make the call now: Ponder wins the Heisman.
