Such predictions! How does he do it?

Florida and Alabama will probably lose a game this year! Now, that's going
out on a limb.

And, the SEC will probably not repeat as NC! Whoopee, that Pat is really
stretchin' it this time.

I'll add another, someone in your favorite lunch place will break a glass
before the day is over.

I know, it's a gift. I just don't know where it comes from.

The Associated Press

SEC schools have won four BCS national championships in a row. Florida
started the run in 2007. LSU did it in 2008. Florida won again in 2009.
Alabama won in 2010.

It's your Daily Football Fix! Gainesville Sun staff writers are here to help
get you through the long, hot summer with a daily dose of college football.
The series runs every day until the start of fall practice.

The SEC needs a motto for this coming football season.

"One for the Thumb?"

"The Streak Continues?"

"Five for Fighting?"

The conference has won four straight national titles with three different
teams and has a legitimate shot at five in a row this year. Legitimate, but
unlikely.

The two teams with the best shot at it are both reloading. And if both are
able to do that reloading well, they likely will play twice this season.
Florida and Alabama are already set to meet in October and may play again in
the SEC Championship Game where they have met seven times since its
inception in 1992.

Three reasons I think the streak will end:

1. Florida is good but not quite there. The Gators will be playing with a
new quarterback, cornerback, defensive ends, safety and linebackers. They
will be playing without Tim Tebow. They will be playing at Tennessee, at
Alabama and at Florida State. They will be playing LSU at home and Georgia
in Jacksonville. I just don't see an unbeaten season.

2. Alabama has to lose a game. The Tide could have lost to Tennessee or
Auburn last year, and this team isn't going to be as good as last year's.
There is a loss out there for Nick Saban.

3. If Boise State beats Virginia Tech in its opener and goes unbeaten the
rest of the way against a mediocre schedule, there will be sentimement to
put the Broncos in the title game ahead of a one-loss SEC team.

All that said, it still could happen. Personally, I think the Hokies are
going to wax Boise State. And a one-loss SEC team is going to have a better
BCS standing than a one-loss team from any other conference. Things tend to
get wacky at the end of the season.

And, hey, it's college football. Anything can happen. Mississippi State
could go unbeaten and play for it all. Well, theoretically.

Just call it a gut feeling that the SEC won't win the national title this
year. The good news is that at least we won't know the winner of the BCS
National Championship Game ahead of time.
