Yes, but with the advent of the 16 team mega conferences, NO ONE will be 
playing out of conference games anymore.  The nice matchups will all disappear 
as they all have a full in conference schedule.  Out of conference matchups 
will disappear...

I would mostly agree with that.  But there are pollsters out there who do look 
at who you play out of conference as well.. .and lets say you have 4 teams who 
are 12-0.... Out Of conference schedule would probably be a determining factor 
as to who is 1,2 3 and 4 especially if some of them are from the same 
conference.
