<< 4-3 in ACC >>

Let me know when they start winning the ACC title again - then they might be a top 15 team.

No. 15 MIAMI HURRICANES

2009 record: 9-4 overall; 4-3 in ACC, lost to Wisconsin 20-14 in Champs Sports Bowl
Returning starters: 7 offense; 9 defense
Strength: Defense. Miami has been steadily recruiting for speed and depth, and this year's installment should have plenty of both. Returning All-ACC linebacker Colin McCarthy and eight other starters to a defense that was ranked in the top 30 in total defense last season, the 'Canes should improve on that number.
Weakness: The Hurricanes gave up 35 sacks last season, an average of 2.69 sacks per game. The line looked shaky during spring practice and gave up a total of three sacks in the spring game. This unit could be Miami's biggest liability if it is not fixed over the summer.
Biggest star: Quarterback Jacory Harris. He burst onto the scene last season as a sophomore, leading Miami to wins over three top 25 teams in its first four games. He has a penchant for forcing himself to make the big play, but if he can avoid leading the nation in interceptions this season, the 'Canes could be a contender for a national title.
Rising star: Redshirt freshman running back Lamar Miller showed during Miami's spring game why he is also a member of the track team. He took a hand off up the middle for a 44-yard touchdown before anyone on the Hurricanes defense had a chance to react. He will be the third option at tailback to start the 2010 season, but his speed and ability to make plays could move him through the ranks quickly.
Toughest game: Sept. 11 at Ohio State. After a tune-up game against Florida A&M, the Hurricanes get a chance to see where they stand in the national title picture in week two against a Buckeyes team that should be ranked in the top five. Miami also plays at Pittsburgh a week later.
