Let's not get too hasty here. I think Richt is doing a fine job as coach! Can't we get him nominated for the 'Ray Goff, coach of the year' trophy or something? Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

[Andreu] How warm is Richt's seat? Mark Richt The Associated Press Georgia coach Mark Richt has brought success and stability to the Bulldog program. Gainesville Sun staff writers are here to help get you through the long, hot summer with a daily dose of college football. The series runs every day until the start of fall practice.* Coming off a disappointing 8-5 season and yet another loss to arch-rival Florida, there is a great deal of speculation out there about Mark Richt's job security at Georgia. Is the guy on the hot seat heading into his 10th season in Athens? Georgia athletic director Damon Evans says he's not, but then athletic directors always say that under circumstances like these. If Richt's seat is warm (and getting warmer), it's probably for one reason and one reason only — he's 2-7 against the Gators, a record that is intolerable to Dawg fans who can remember when UGA dominated this rivalry the way UF is now. If Richt was even just 4-5 against the Gators, I don't think anyone would be mentioning his name with the hot seat. More wins over Florida likely would have meant more SEC championships than the two the 'Dogs have won under Richt. Florida is the one reason Richt might be on the hot heat. Here are some reasons why he shouldn't be: * In nine seasons, Richt has won 90 games and lost only 27. You can't even think about firing a guy with a record like that. Impossible (and probable suicide for any AD who tried). * Look at what the program was before Richt arrived — mired in mediocrity after the Ray Goff and Jim Donnan regimes. Richt has turned the Georgia program into one of the nation's best and most consistent. * The Bulldogs have recruited lights-out under Richt, who has Georgia's talent right up there with the nation's elite programs. * Richt runs his program the right way. 'Dog fans will never have to fear NCAA sanctions as long as Richt is captaining the ship. * Richt is a strong family man, an all-around good guy and a great ambassador for the University of Georgia (and the SEC). I have a feeling even Urban Meyer likes him, and those two have really turned up the intensity level against each other in recent seasons. So, is Mark Richt on the hot seat? Nah. Great! I was going to say if he is, we need to start an email campaign to save Mark Richt! I say as long as he is there, we will NEVER have any trouble beating UGAly!!!!! -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
