Miles Doran, now a CBS News digital journalist in New York, received $5,000 for winning first place in the television division of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program. Students from Arizona State University and the University of Miami placed second and third, respectively. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the awards, which are open to undergraduate journalism majors and also include competitions in writing, photography and radio news.
