I have a very good friend that is visiting my wife and I in Pennsylvania who
received a very sad telephone call from his wife this evening. She said
that she was moving out and would be gone when he got home. To our
knowledge she has not initiated divorce proceedings. She has been having
some significant life crises in her life (both parents ill and in assisted
living, an unresolved loss of a daughter to a car accident, and support of
another daughter who is jobless and unable to find a career.) I still have
some hope that this marriage might still be salvaged if and when she can
resolve some of these problems. I believe my friend is not necessarily
ready to give up either. My dilemma is this: I would like my friend to
talk with an attorney about how to protect his estate without necessarily
triggering a divorce and closing the door to possible reconciliation. I
have some reservations about having him see a divorce attorney since I don't
believe that reconciliation is totally out of the question. I would like to
recommend someone who I fell would be able to give him good legal advice
without pushing him to divorce. He is willing to meet with someone anywhere
in the state. I know we have some attorneys here on GatorTalk and I feel
we are family here so I value your opinions. Could you email be privately
at [email protected] with your advice and suggestions?

With a heavy heart and prayers for both,

Jerry
