They try to rank them based on all the players coming through in the last ten years or so.
For example - we have the #1 rated fullback (Hunter Joiner) committed and I think he is only 3 stars - even though the guys is big and strong as an ox. Jordan Reed is expected to start at TE. A very gifted athlete (he plays QB in the wildcat). And he has practiced for a year at the position. Think the coaches trust him with the ball. Main problem with Jordan is lack of blocking skills Desmond Parks has been around - but is often injured. Still having problems with his wrist and not practicing Gerald Christan is a true freshman - very talented - but makes freshmen mistakes - but at least he went through spring practice Michael McFarland is also a very talented true freshman - but did not go through spring practice. These guys are all in the 240 pound range. We would like to see them heavier (for blocking) - but as fast and nimble as they are now Currently they are bringing DTs and DEs over as blocking TEs - for like short yardage and goal line situations. Two other options at TE are: Stephen Alli is 6'5" and 220 pounds Omarius Hines is 6'0" and listed at 220 - but is built much bigger and stronger We have AC Leonard coming in as a TE next year. We can also put FBs into the TE position. Pridemore and Wilks are both only 6'1" (kind of short for a TE) - they are in the 240 - 250 pound range - but usually better blockers than the TEs. TE is wide open. If we get a couple of these guys to really turn out good (and we should - just a question of when) we could eventually have the TEs line up out wide and use two TEs - both schemes mess with the assignments on defense.
