The debate, organized and sponsored by Florida Blue Key<http://www.fbk.org/>, is scheduled for Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. St. Petersburg Times political editor Adam Smith will moderate and a panel of three UF students will ask questions of the candidates. “We’re really emphasizing that this is a student-initiated debate,” said Jon Philipson, a UF law student and member of Blue Key who is co-chairman of the debate. The debate is the last one planned before the Nov. 2 election. It will be broadcast live statewide by Bay News 9, a cable news station in St. Petersburg, and its affiliates. Philipson said the first hour will be a traditional debate, following by a half hour in which candidates will answer questions submitted through YouTube. He said he believes that this will be the first time that UF has hosted a gubernatorial debate.
