True. Sure Demps goes down easier than a 250 lb running back. He's little compared to them. But don't try to tell me that pound for pound he isn't as tough as anyone. Look at yesterday's effort. He only went down in several cases after he drove through 3 or 4 defenders. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Let's go back and look at the stats line Rushing No Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg -------------------------------------------- Demps, J. 8 102 4 98 1 72 12.2 Gillislee, M. 6 55 0 55 0 41 9.2 http://www.gatorzone.com/football/boxscore.php?gameid=8274 Keith suggested that we take away Demps' 72 yard touchdown run and then compare with Gillislee. My question is why, I am not going to overlook a 72-yard touchdown run in evaluating playmakers. If you take away Gillislee's best run he averaged only 2.8 yards per carry on his other 5, a full yard and a half less than Demps' other carries. Demps 72 yarder went for TD, Gillislee had a fumble. IMHO, Demps outplayed Gillislee. The difference is Demps got his yards on 1 big play by using his speed, whereas Gillislee got his yards on 1 big play by breaking tackles. IMHO, The coaches think Demps has more big play potential than Gillislee and that is why he is the featured back. I agree. Based on Saturday, I see no reason to change. But we have seen Moody and Demps for several years now. We were told that their problems have been fixed and this year would be different. Last game - looked like same old problems - while Gillislee and Hines made plays. Meyer kept saying that he couldn't find playmakers. Maybe the problem is that he is only looking for Rainey, Demps, and Moody to make plays - and they aren't doing it. While Gillislee and Hine keep making plays all over the field ... Hopefully it all becomes mute points next Saturday ... -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Shane Ford Sent: Monday, September 06, 2010 3:23 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [gatortalk] Rumors, stubbornness and Playmakers Keith, you appear to be drawing proper conclusions from the stats you put forth. BUT... You have to keep in mind those are stats from ONE game. Does a general draw up an entire war plan from the plans made for one battle? No, of course they don't! We have to keep in mind that we haven't watched these players and how the perform throughout summer practice; but the coaches have. I think instead of doing wholesale changes based on one game's results - we really need to assume that the coaches who have won 2 NC's in the past 4 years know what they are doing with the talent that they have. I think Pouncey will correct the problem - even though he does not how - but what if he doesn't? Would Meyer's stubbornness, I mean loyalty, prevent Meyer from replacing Pouncey if we continue to see problems in USF game? Speaking of stubbornness, I mean loyalty, and playmakers - Meyer did take away from the first game what everyone else took away. Most people saw Gillislee and Hines busting their butts whenever they touched the ball and Rainey, Demps, and Moody giving up at first contact. But Meyer thinks that he needs to get Demps and Moody more involved! "If you give him his crease, that's a good day for the Gators," coach Urban Meyer said. "We've just got to utilize him more. We've got to get him and Moody going because they're really good players." IMHO - that is the wrong conclusion. The right conclusion is that Demps and Moody need to be demoted to second string and Gillislee promoted to first string. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
