At Florida coach Urban Meyer's weekly news Monday, the last question from the media was: Is there a danger of over preparing? Meyer had a little fun with that one. "Over prepare? I'm not worried about telling our staff, 'Let's make sure we're not over prepared.' Get out of here, man," Meyer laughed. "I guarantee you we're not going to be over prepared, and I can promise you will not be under prepared." Be prepared. That's the Gators' goal heading into Saturday night's SEC showdown in Tuscaloosa with No. 1 Alabama. It's No. 1 vs. No. 7 in a rematch of last year's SEC Championship Game, which Alabama won 32-13. The winner of Saturday night's game could be in a strong position to return to Atlanta, and possibly have a chance to earn a spot in the BSC Championship Game. "This is a game with a lot of national attention," Meyer said. "We have a lot of respect for their personnel. The last several years these two teams find ways to win games. This will be one of the great environments in the SEC. We better be locked and loaded and everybody has to be on point. That means everybody has to be all in. Everyone has to be at competitive excellence to have a chance to win this game." The young Gators carry some momentum into the game after putting together a feel-good victory over Kentucky last Saturday that saw the offense finally come to life in the 48-14 win. "The positive thing is we now have learned how to practice," Meyer said. "The negative is we're still extremely young in some areas. But the improvement, you can witness it now. We're all witnesses now to seeing (wide receiver) Andre Debose develop and seeing some of these young players come on a little bit. That's encouraging as a coach." Alabama is listed as a nine-point favorite. It's the first time the Gators have been in the underdog role since the 2008 national championship game against No. 1 Oklahoma.
