I believe they are reinactors, but haven't been over to the fort. I've been coming here since a child growing up in the Jax. We get a spot at the beach campground facing the sea so we have a great view out the windows. Occasionally see a sub going out or coming into from Kings Bay.
I've had a long association with Fort Clinch. During my career, working out of Tallahassee I supervised the educational programs at a Youth Services camp for juvenile delinquents that was housed in the old officers club building which stood where the beach campground is now located. I was in here once a month for 4 1/2 years for at least one night. Unfortunately, the facility burned down. All the kids and staff escaped injury, but the historic facility was a total loss.
