For what it is worth, he has removed the offending tweets from his account. Some are speculating that he has talked with one of the coaches after they read that tweet.
It does seem that few either here or on GatorCountry have any response to my question about how to effectively punish him so that it will mold his behavior in a positive way for the future. Jerry. He was not taken into custody. Therefore, (in his mind) not arrested. Those mean old coaches! At 12:50 a.m., officers went into the bathroom of Status in downtown Gainesville and saw Jenkins holding a "small, clear bag with marijuana in it," police spokesperson Tscharna Senn said. Jenkins, a Pahokee product, was charged with possession of cannabis under 20 grams, a misdemeanor, and issued a notice to appear in court. He was not taken into police custody. He is scheduled to go before an Alachua County judge Feb. 17. Jenkins, 22, recently passed on the NFL Draft to stay at Florida for his senior season. He was projected to go in the first round of the draft. This is his second known arrest during his three-plus years at Florida. In May 2009, Jenkins was arrested (and Tased) for <http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/gatorbytes/2009/06/01/more-details-on-janori s-jenkins-arrest/> fighting at Sharab Lounge in Gainesville. He upheld the terms of his deferred prosecution agreement, and the charge was removed from his record. "We are aware of the incident with Janoris Jenkins and will handle it internally at this time," Florida coach Will Muschamp said in a statement. Jenkins is the first Gators player arrested since Muschamp took over the program Jan. 1. Twenty-five players, including Jenkins, were arrested during former coach Urban Meyer's six seasons at the school. There were two incidents similar to Jenkins' recent arrest: -Former player Brandon James was arrested for purchasing a small amount of marijuana in the off-season in 2007. Meyer suspended him for the ensuing season opener. -Louis Murphy was arrested for misdemeanor possession the previous year and received a three-game suspension from Meyer. Meyer also suspended Jenkins one game for the Taser/fight incident. He missed the 2009 season opener against Charleston Southern. This will be Muschamp's first disciplinary decision. Florida opens the upcoming season with home games against Florida Atlantic and Alabama-Birmingham before starting SEC play. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
