Well do we ever know what to think about any class until they get
on a field and prove anything? Outside of Percy and Tebow and
maybe Spikes.. who else lived up to their 4 or 5 star billing? I
havent gone over the list.. but no one is jumping out at me right now.
It might predate Rivals and Scout, but Emmitt had to be a top recruit.
Rivals goes back online to 2002.
2002: One 5 star; Ciatrick Fason. C4 was the real deal. The four
stars don't really jump out, several played a bit, but no All-SEC
performers are jumping out at me.
2003. Lots of familiar names in the 4 and 5 star players; Jarvis
Moss, Chris Leak, Reggie Nelson (first time), Dee Webb, Bubba
Caldwell, Chad Jackson
2004. A little thinner. Derrick Harvey, Cornelius Ingram, Brandon Siler.
2005. Other than the second signing of Reggie Nelson, the 4 stars
from this class don't inspire. David Nelson or Ryan Stamper might be
the best of the remainder.
2006. 4 for 4 on the 5 star prospects; Harvin, Carl Johnson, Spikes &
Tebow. Riley Cooper and Jermaine Cunningham lead the 4 stars.
2007. Carlos Dunlap a 5 star, along with some dude named Cam Newton.
I wonder whatever happened to him. James Wilson solid OL. The Puncey
brothers were both 4 stars and rate to be first round NFL picks.
Overall, a mixed bag. In 2003 and 2006, the ratings seem right on.
Some other years, completely off.
