Sunday, I opened my sermon on Deuteronomy 30:15-20 that was called "Choices have consequences" with the story of the two girls: "About a month ago, two talented athletes on the University of Florida swim team decided to go shopping and walked out of a store in Orlando without paying for their merchandise. They made a choice to steal coats valued under $200. They took their coats to their car and then returned to the store to "shop" some more. Understand that these girls were not destitute and needing those coats. They did not think about the consequences and they were caught. Their poor decisions have had far-reaching consequences for them. They have been dismissed from the team, probably lost their scholarships worth thousands of dollars, may face expulsion from the university, and will have a criminal record that will likely impair their ability to get a job in the future. Choices have consequences-good or bad."
