I think I am somewhere between Oliver and Scott. I kind of admired how he took his punishment. The original violation of having a recruit at a BBQ does not seem all that serious. Telling a lie is more serious, but it seemed that a 1.5 million dollar fine and eight games suspension seems like a pretty serious punishment.
I am suspicious that this action is a preemption for a "lack of institutional control" NCAA charge. If you take away Kiffin, I don't think this happens.
