That reminds me of one of my favorite fish stories. I was exhausted with working on my PhD project so I decided to take the morning off and go fishing out at Lake Alice. I stretched out in the boat, got comfortable, and began to study the inside of my eyeballs for some much needed rest. Just before I settled down, I decided to put my line in the water with no bait so that people would think I was fishing. I had just fallen into a good restful sleep when my rod suddenly gets a strong pull. I had caught a fish. Not only did I catch a fish with no bait, I caught it in a rather startling way. Somehow my line had made a loop with the hook and the fish had swam into the loop. Somehow the line tightened up and the loop caught the fish by the tail. I especially enjoyed that fish that evening. I not sure if it was because the fish was just good or if it was enhanced by a little revenge for waking me up. I fished for bass while I was a student at UF too. Newnan's, Orange and Lochloosa lakes were favorite spots to relax while tossing out a 'rebel' and watch it wiggle its way back to the boat or shady spot on shore. I would frequently be accompanied by a good book or coed. I still bothers me a lot to remember how often a bass would interrupt that serene scene and force me to clean a fish. A.
