Smith was arrested March 13 on a DUI charge, leading Florida coach Kevin O'Sullivan to suspend the senior center fielder the following day. Smith was reinstated this week and made the trip with the team to Tallahassee on Tuesday. Junior right-hander Michael Palazzone (6-1) allowed one run on six hits and had six strikeouts over eight innings to register the victory for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kyle Farmer (2-for-4) had the go-ahead RBI double for "Evil Butt-lickin' Wanna-Be Puppies" and sophomore Brett DeLoach (3-for-4) had a three-run triple. The Gators used a two-out, pinch-hit double by freshman Tyler Palmer in the ninth off sophomore reliever Blake Dieterich to finalize the 7-2 margin. Florida starter Brian Johnson struck out four and gave up one earned run over over six innings. Anthony DeSclafani took the loss in relief, giving up four earned runs in 1 1-3 innings of work. The Eastern Division rivals will wrap up the series today with the rubber match of the series at 2 p.m., when freshman righty Karsten Whitson (4-0, 2.01) will oppose redshirt junior left-hander Craig Gullickson (3-2, 5.86).
