yea... and I wouldnt be surprised one bit if the UAA wasnt already
appealing this..

overstepping its bounds. A non-profit like the SAM Foundation, which
at least looks legitimate from afar, is not the same thing as what
AAU programs have become. I can certainly see why they'd be
concerned about an organization like this, but they need to be
careful. The NCAA stepping in to disallow non-profits, high schools,
or communities from raising money for kids who can't afford
unofficial visits and such could easily turn into a lawsuit. It
could be seen as the NCAA restricting kids' access to potential
college scholarships. There are plenty of firms that would love to
take on something like this pro bono (the NCAA has proved to be an
easy target in the past), and I would just LOVE to see it happen.
The other problem for the NCAA is that this approach could also
increase the illicit booster activity they'd like to curtail. If
there are no legitimate ways for poor kids to access potential
scholarship offers like more affluent kids do, there will be more
and more unsavory types filling the void.

well... the biggest reason? a) he took $$ from someone other than
a parent or guardian and b) because it was to go on a recruiting
trip... i agree with your premise.. just the way things are and
going to be where the NCAA is concerned... you cant even buy on of
these guys a .05 piece of bubble gum without them dropping the
hammer. A guy on twitter was making them lil avatar images for
their twitter.. FOR FREE i may add... and they sent him a letter
telling him to stop

I don't understand why this is some sort of violation. So some nice

NCAA has handed him a two game suspension from what I am hearing -
was hearing five games possible/probable earlier today.
