He wasn't interrogated by the police. He was questioned by the NCAA, they set the rules for anyone who wants to play in their Association. If they said you can't tell anyone was said, you can't. It's like if a kid innocently accepts help from friends, through say a bake sale, to have enough money to visit colleges, he can be suspended too, no matter how ridiculous the rule.
