Seriously, I'm somewhat optimistic about the future....Like Gene said the defense played great Saturday night.
Ask yourself this, I know they won the game, but if you are a Nole wouldn't you be a little concerned that after 5 years at FSU and 2 as Head Coach your offense was pathetic under Jimbo Fisher. Remember Jimbo Fisher is the OC at FSU he was hired to revive the offense under Bowden and they have been at best average the entire time....Does EJ Manuel scare anyone ?? Going into next season we need a few things to happen.... Be respectable in the bowl game, winning would be great, but I'm not optimistic in this regard. Have a GREAT recruiting year, solidify the RB, OL, and overall depth of the team. Have a QB emerge, right now it looks like Brissette, but Driskell is a talent and maybe the light will go on for him. Solidify the OL, we have to have some consistency, one issue all season was injuries, we kept changing the starting OL all season, we simply did not have the depth to have people for every position and the constant shuffling created real issues IMO. The schedule next season looks easier, even if we end up playing both Texas AM and Missouri they don't scare anyone....Alabama will be off the schedule and one of the Mississippi schools is likely to join, that would be a benefit. Last season at this time, UGA was 6-6 and ready to run Mark Richt out of town, all they've done since is have a GREAT recruiting year and will play for the SEC title this Saturday. Not saying it will happen to UF, but the SEC East doesn't look like the West in terms of strength of teams. (Okay, I'm reaching, but not getting shut out IS much better than getting shut out) --The Gator D looked like a Muschamp D. The athletes played the coaches schemes, and the result was near perfection. I can hardly wait for next year! (At least defensively) (And maybe our O won't give away a bowl shutout) --The hit(s) that took out Brantley were helmet to helmet to helmet, yet again justifying my belief that the Gators are the good guys, and the criminoles are still thugs.
