I was at both games of the Volleyball regional. Gator gals were a little discombobulated and that Illinois team was just too good - the Gators would slam over what looked to be a certain kill and someone on the Illinois side would get a great dig on it. Player wearing #4 for the Illini (can't think of her name) was a Gator recruit and played for UF for a year but left to go back home... I kept thinking how much better the Gators would have been if she'd stayed.
No shame in losing for our gals, though - this was the first time in forever that the Gators weren't ranked in the tournament (first time in forever that they didn't win the SEC), so getting to the Elite Eight was quite an achievement. Illinois was ranked #1 for a good part of the season and is the highest-ranked team left in the Final Four. It was nice to see some of our Gator basketball players out watching (and cheering) for the volleyball team.
