I'm certainly no expert at basketball. But, the analysts last night during halftime were pointing out that UF was attacking Marquette with defense so that it made them take shots more in desperation than in their usual relaxed form. We were "face defending" more? I think that was the term they used.
Which means, I suppose, that our defenders were in their faces every time they tried to pull up and shoot. It looked like that too in the second half. They just couldn't get their footing, settle down, get into a rhythm to make the high percentage of shots they were used to. We weren't hitting the 3s. We seemed to abandon that idea and just played better defense. All, As usual, I was glued to Mick last night and not watching much of the game on tv. A throw back to my Miami Dolphin days in the 60's when the games were blacked out quite often. I'm wondering what made Marquette so cold shooting at times? Just the way the ball bounces or was our defense forcing a tempo that they couldn't get comfortable in? Any other analysis from our experts here would be welcomed.
