I am just hoping he survives, so next season we can have a serious QB
controversy, redshirt Grier and get our QB depth where it needs to be to
compete in the SEC. Oh yea, another plus, we will get to spend hours second
guessing the coaching staff while making each other mad over who is and who
is not a realist or Pollyanna. It is a vicious cycle. Ain't Gator football
a hoot, we wear our passion on our sleeves. :=)

I was at the game on Saturday, one thing I notice was how short in the
pocket Murphy looked. I looked it up, Murphy is listed as 6' 2", but it
looked at times as if he couldn't see over his lineman at times. Anybody
else notice that? Trenton Brown doesn't count, nobody can see over (or
around) that guy. He is one large human being. Want a cheap chuckle? Try
to catch Solomon Patton ( 5' 9", 177) and T Brown (6' 8", 362) standing
together, poor Solo looks only slightly larger than T Brown's leg.

Ok maybe it's a little premature to name him the next Kerwin Bell. I'm just
hoping he'll be the next Kerwin.

So, what was it with the student section Saturday? They arrived late and
left early! Shouldn't there be some kind of rule? Code of ethics?
Gentleman's agreement that you stay for the whole game if you're a student?

I was pleasantly surprised at how well TM did, given the circumstances
thrust upon him. I thought he played extremely well given the
circumstances. I was happy for him. But, UT is awful, I dare say not much
better than Toledo and I may be stretching to get there. So I think I will
withhold judgment on wondering if our coaching staff have issues evaluating
talent. Even, Dooley from the Gainesville Sun said before the season
started that there was a considerable difference between Driskel and Murphy,
so it wasn't just the coaching staff. Murph was a 2 star athlete who was an
afterthought because we had missed on all our other quarterback prospects 4
years ago. He threw for only 1,600 yards, had 9 tds and 9 interceptions,
his senior year. He was projected to be a perennial practice squad player.
However, that may be the reason his apparent decision making is better, he
has had 4 years to develop that internal clock that tells the QB to run or
throw the ball out of bounds. Not to mention 4 years of watching other QB's
making the same mistakes of holding on to the ball too long or not throwing
out of bounds or knowing when to run. Regardless, TM is our QB now, I wish
him the best of luck and please do not get injured because there is no way I
have any confidence in the guys behind him.

Please let us not compare Murphy's situation to Kerwin Bell's. Bell led an
offense that consisted of the greatest offensive line in UF history, running
backs Anderson, Hampton, and Williams, wide receivers Neal and Nattiel.
Folks, Jay, Oliver or myself could look like an All American with that
supporting cast.

Yes, what Muschamp said was bs, but like someone else said what was he
suppose to say.

He gets another fairly easy game under his belt this week with Kentucky.
Granted that "one of the other" Stoops is there, Kentucky will be an easy
game for him to get more snaps in a game atmosphere. After that, we will
truly see what TM can do...

I am very happy with Tyler Murphy.

But, as Randy mentioned, it was against Tennessee that had such success.
They are going to have a tough season at best.

I'm hoping for another Kerwin Bell here.

In the coaches defense they really don't know what a player will do in a
game until he goes in.

Good luck in educating that boy, Darl.

As my husband says, coaches are stubborn and don't like to admit they are
wrong. We were actually having this discussion on the ride home, and it was
a great opportunity for a history lesson with my mid-20s daughter and her
domestic partner, who grew up in an Auburn household. He works for a former
Gator player from the 60s, so he's been soaking up all before their time
history lessons. This week it was on Steve Spurrier getting the crap beat
out of Danny by refusing to put him in the shotgun and how funny Jerri
thought it was when he had to admit he was wrong. That led to a discussion
of the 52-20 Sugar Bowl, "hitting to the echo of the whistle", "rather be a
live coward than a dead hero" and all sorts of other reasons to hate Bobby
Bowden. By the time they get married, this boy is going to be a
died-in-the-wool Gator! But back to the current QB situation, our coach and
his assistants are not stupid, and I think they had a pretty good idea of
Jeff's limitations, and that Tyler knew what to do in practice. The only
doubt, I think, is whether or not he was a gamer. Apparently, he is.

Well, of course it's BS. But Murphy is now the QB and it's the coach's job
to build the confidence of Murphy and the team. I was actually impressed by
how quickly CWM adapted to the loss of Jeff. I mean, walking off the field,
telling the reporter that Jeff is out for the year and this fine young man
is our starting QB and I have full confidence in him! Seriously, I'd have
just wandered off the field mumbling 'oh sh&t... oh sh&t'... :-)

Of course it helps that Murphy did a really nice job under the
circumstances. I'm pretty excited to see what he can do when he gets a few
weeks of full reps under his belt.

I call BS. If coach Dawg knew that this is the way Tyler would perform,
then why was Jeffplaying, even when he was struggling so much? I would buy
this statement if they had put TM in for even a series just to help Jeff see
what was going on. We never heard the competition was close, In Fact the
Opposite.

I just wonder what other talent isn't being evaluated/used...

"He had a great training camp and put himself in a position to be very
