I wish we knew if coach Chomp is really holding Pease back. That is the 64
million dollar question.

You are correct... It was not his offense, but he was a AHC. Assistant or
Associate Head Coach... whatever. He was not calling the shots when they
knocked off Oklahoma. He was not in charge when they were making a name for
themselves. He was familiar with the game plans and was familiar with the
offense, but it was not his... I mentioned this earlier.

I am not sold on him. I was hoping he could get it... I was hoping for some
Idaho magic to show up, but the routes and the offense is predictable and
unimaginative. My team's offense got stagnant... what opened it up again was
routes down field and rolling the QB out of the pocket. Driskel and Murphy are
both athletic players, they can move well... roll them out. Slow down the
blitzing... Slow down the rush. Move the pocket. It worked wonders for a
middle school offfense, why can't it work at the collegiate level and why has
out coaches not done this? Its a staple for a line that has trouble blocking!

We are missing something... coaching, players, something... Everything thinks
we have great talent... where does that leave us?

I love Coach Dawg, but he needs to take the handcuffs off of Pease, if there
are any, and let Pease call it as he wants and see where that leaves us. It
will expose the issue...

If I recall, Pease wasn't the offensive mastermind at BS. He was an underling.

I didn't want to come out and say that... but that is all I can put together.
How complicated is this offense? How was Boise State running it and our
players can't? I still can't help but think there is more to it than that...
and that leaves the coaching. Whether Coach Dawg dictates this conservative
garbage or Pease is doing it, doesn't matter. Neither is an excuse for a
complete lack of routes across the middle or to the sideline. Granted, when we
need 8-10 yards, we get it on those hitches and stops, but they do NOT create
any YAC and do not force a safety to make a decision...

Somehow I sense that someone (or someONES) on this offense just may not be the
brightest bulbs in the store. I’m not saying college football is on par with
Quantum Mechanics, but I get the feeling that a wide variety of plays may be
too much for some of these guys to remember.

Maybe I’m wrong. Coaches probably wouldn’t want to say it, anyway. Coaches do
say players ‘aren’t picking up blocking schemes’ or they ‘ran the wrong route.’
So, you know, maybe that’s the problem.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why most, if not all, of our passing
routes are static. Receivers run 10 yards and turn around. We do a bubble
screen. Our QBs are mainly throwing at players who are not even moving...
Where are the crossing routes? Where are the fade routes? Where are the fly
patterns, posts, and flags?

Are our QBs incapable of hitting a MOVING target? The closest thing we have to
that, and we don't use it nearly enough, is a slant-- which would just about
ALWAYS be open with 9 men in the box.

This offense is truly confounding... and not in a good way.

Also... apparently Murphy hasnt thrown at all last week to rest his shoulder...
annnnnd they "simplified" the game plan and made no "real changes" offensively.

soo... theres that.
