That controversial catch at Tennessee didn’t matter. It was only second down.

We would have scored with two more tries and everyone in Knoxville knows it.

It was fun walking out of the stadium that day to, “We was robbed.”

15 … Number of 100-yard receiving games for Jabar Gaffney.

Gaffney’s freshman year was eventful for all of the wrong reasons. He was
suspended for stealing from the UF locker room during a high school
championship game.

But Steve Spurrier gave the receiver a second chance and he capitalized.

Gaffney’s 15 100-yard games were accomplished in only two seasons and stand as
the record at Florida.

Gaffney and Reche Caldwell formed a dynamic duo, catching passes first from
Jesse Palmer and later Rex Grossman. Five times during their careers, the two
receivers had 100-yard receiving games in the same contest. Four times, that
happened in 2001.

Gaffney finished his career with 2,375 receiving yards, second only to Carlos
Alvarez on Florida’s career receiving list. His 71 catches in 2000 and 67 in
2001 are both in the top 10 all-time at UF.

Of course, his most famous catch was a questionable one. Palmer’s pass to
Gaffney on a curl route in the end zone beat Tennessee in 2000 even though
Gaffney dropped the ball a split second after it hit his hands. Were there
instant replay at the time, the Vols might not still be arguing about that call.
