Opps. I was thinking Alabama was next. You are correct. They would have
Kentucky. Its that OldTimer’s disease. Maybe that is why I stink in Pick’em?

They'd have the UK game, Doc.

I really would be upset if we had another ligntning no-contest but it would

Eastern Mich is not very good.. at all.. in fact only slightly better than
Idaho. They cant even knock down a brick wall much less keep their players
eligible to play. We win by more than 28 I think.

It's a difficult one to call.
Not any of The Picks this week. I've got those nailed. But what do we call the
Florida-Eastern Michigan game this week?
It's Florida's first game, but it really isn't the opener. The first kickoff of
the season won't really be a little after 4 p.m. It was last week.
Heck, after last week, we're a little antsy about when this game will kick off
and even more skeptical about when it will end.
We'd like to think that it was a once-in-a-lifetime event, the cancellation of
a game, but it's been strange around here the last few weeks. Maybe now that
we're in September, things will calm down.
Anyway, Dr. Football is referring to this game as Opening Day-ja vu.
Get it?
Also there is this — what's the first week record of The Picks. Because Florida
didn't win, does it count as a loss? It's all so confusing.
I guess I'll just go with 9-0. Oh, did I not mention my perfect predictions to
start the season?
EASTERN MICHIGAN AT FLORIDA: If someone had told me Florida's new offense would
generate zero total yards in the opening game, I'd have told you Kurt Roper was
in trouble. Let's hope we have a full football game this week. I didn't get to
grade the Gators in week one, but my brother-in-law made a good point Sunday
morning. I should have just graded the Special Teams. They get an A. Florida,
38-10.
MICHIGAN STATE AT OREGON: The Ducks struggle with physical teams, right? Robbie
Andreu has been in my ear all week to pick Michigan State. It's a huge game for
the Big Ten-ish, which already has one high-profile loss. Oregon, 39-29.
USC AT STANFORD: Stanford doesn't lose at home. And you can't put too much into
that first game for USC. A bigger issue is this — is it OK to like USC now that
Lane Kiffin is gone? USC, 20-17.
OLE MISS AT VANDERBILT: Memo to Derek Mason — pick a quarterback and stick with
him. Ole Miss, 34-10.
MISSOURI AT TOLEDO: What do the bettors know? They've bet Missouri down to a
31Ž2-point favorite. Interesting. Missouri, 28-21.
BYU AT TEXAS: By the time Charlie Strong gets to his bowl game, he'll be down
to 22 players. Texas, 24-17.
VIRGINIA TECH AT OHIO STATE: It seems like it has been forever since Virginia
Tech has won a big game. I figure the Hokies are due. Virginia Tech, 31-27.
EAST CAROLINA AT SOUTH CAROLINA: This was supposed to be a trap game for the
Gamies. Now it's just a must-win game. South Carolina, 30-17.
MICHIGAN AT NOTRE DAME: My dad once told me, “When you have absolutely no feel
for a game, always pick the home team.” So if Michigan wins, this is on you,
pops. Notre Dame, 23-21.
OHIO AT KENTUCKY: Wildcat fans took a break from watching video of the hoops
team's trip to the Bahamas to show up for the football opener and it was pretty
electric. Watch out for the 'Cats this year. The basketball team, that is.
Kentucky, 31-24.
