I don’t think he has to be fully onboard to have input, I bet Jeremy consults
him by phone over the next couple of weeks.

I was under the impression UF's new president doesn't come on board until
January. I don't think the program can wait until then.

One possible reason for the delay I’ve read in another forum is they may need
the new president to come on board to approve buy outs and budget for new
coaches. It’s also possible there is something in his contract that reduces the
buyout if we have a losing season. Still, it’s getting so bad now I think they
really need to act sooner rather than later.

I think this is the perfect time to fire him midseason. You have a bye week.
You have an offensive coordinator who WAS an upcoming and a head coach
prospect. Lose Muschamp, slap an interim head coach title on Roper, which
effectively removes the handcuffs he has right now with Muschamp, and let Roper
show what he can do. If he truly has no weapons and our QB and receivers truly
are this bad, then it is all on Muschamp and his recruiting. However, Roper
said this group could be effective, so why aren't they??? Let him prove it.

This offense is NOTHING like what Duke ran... Giving Roper the helm for the
remainder of the season is his tryout. Can his offense, without Muschamp's
influence, work? If it does, keep him. If not, we start anew with a coaching
staff.

'What must be done eventually, should be done immediately.' Back in 2004, if
Foley had just said 'it's time to pull the plug on this one,' then our
anticipation now might not be so high, but he is the one who declared this a
fundamental principle of his management style. It also makes sense, and so that
creates expectations on the part of fans. Is there anyone left who thinks that
Muschamp must not be fired sometime this year? If you're going to do it
eventually, just go ahead and get it done so that everyone else can move
forward. I hate that it has come to this, but it has.

@pat_dooley: Try to enjoy the bye week. There will be no news next two weeks
coming out of the UAA. So you can simmer down. For now.

Before the season, there were a lot of people who thought Will Muschamp had to
beat his alma mater to save his job.

But after what we witnessed Saturday night, I'm not sure the Georgia game will
matter.

Let's put it this way — after Missouri's 42-13 thrashing of Florida, the
Georgia Southern game from last year doesn't seem so bad.

The smell of this performance is something the Gator fans in attendance won't
be able to get out of their clothes for awhile. It was a rotten milk and burnt
hair poured into a used diaper and left in the sun for a month.

The facts are simple — Florida has lost 10 of its last 13 games, four out of
it's last five SEC home games and has been dreadfully dull in doing so. Losing
is never fun, but it's rare that it is this numbingly miserable.

Florida has been shut out in the first half of two of its last three games. On
Saturday night, the Gators were dumpster-fire awful in two phases of the game
(offense and special teams).

Florida lost to a team that was shut out at home last week, gained 20 yards in
the second half Saturday night and had only seven first downs on the night.
Florida turned it over six times to a team that came into the game with zero
turnovers gained in SEC games.

Muschamp's insistence on sticking with Jeff Driskel has backfired so many times
he's covered in gunpowder. Saturday night was the worst yet. I'm not saying
Treon Harris is the answer after leading Florida to a pair of scores after the
game had been decided.

I just know Driskel is not the answer and his performance over the last four
games should eliminate him from consideration at the most important position on
the team.

“The offense was just abysmal,” Muschamp said. “We've got to narrow it down to
things we do well and it's not much. So figure it out.”

Wait. Weren't we told this offense had the most talent Muschamp has had at
Florida before the season? And that Kurt Roper was going to be the answer for
an offense that had been anemic for three years?

Here's what Florida is now that it wasn't under Brent Pease and Charlie Weis —
a turnover machine.

Muschamp talked after the game about the turnovers, about how the blame falls
on his shoulders and then proceeded to blame his players for their mistakes.

And there is no question that there has been a lot of underachieving by the
players on this football team. But players are a reflection of their coaches.

Muschamp can blame Austin Hardin for not booting the opening kickoff in the
right area of the field, but I recall seeing 10 players in blue jerseys running
down the field and not laying a hand on Marcus Murphy.

He can blame the offensive line and his starting tailback but the starting
quarterback was involved in four of the six UF turnovers.

Last week's loss could be attributed to bad luck. This was bad football.

I don't know if he can survive what has transpired over the last month starting
with the debacle in Alabama. There isn't a person outside the football building
who believes this can be turned around. And that means there will be three bad
seasons in four tries for Muschamp.

That's unacceptable at Florida. Heck, it's unacceptable at South Florida.

Muschamp said he's not going to worry about things he can't control, such as
his job security and apparently his quarterback's penchant for giving the ball
to the other team. The chants of “Fire Muschamp!” were loud, the boos were
plentiful and the stands emptied early.

The fan base has has enough. The ones who were ready to dump Muschamp after
last season are screaming “I-told-you-so” with the decibel level rivaling that
of sticking your head in a jet engine. Which would be less painful.

The ones who have stuck behind him are easing their way out of the back door of
the room now that Muschamp is only one game over .500 in SEC games.

It's going to be an ugly bye week in the Gator Nation.
