Living down in S. FL, I am aware of a fact that may help Woody accept
Randy with greater comfort. When scUM fired him, they invoked the
"morals clause" in his contract to avoid the pay off of the balance of
the contract. They refused to negotiate the pay out and so Randy had to
sue to get his money. The case went to trial and Shannon was completely
exonerated from all of the issues invoked by UM and they were forced to
pay him his money. This is proof enough to me to accept him. Also, it
was well known down here that Shannon had put Shapiro off limits to all
players and recruiting activities. He has a lot of credibility in the
community down here. He played his HS football for Miami Norland HS and
college at UM. He is a good hire for us down here.

The truth of all this is Coach Mac wants people around him that are
loyal to him, good coaches and excellent recruiters. Why do you think
Kiffin is on Saban's staff? I doubt they are drinking coffee
together. Taking personal feelings alway from this Shannon fits the
mold on all those points. He looks like a good staff hire.
