Best meteor shower I ever saw was around 10-12 years ago—I think. It was literally raining meteors from 4 in the morning until the dawn’s light finally drowned them out. I’ve been an active watcher for 40 years and there have only been a few show stoppers, but they were worth the wait.

Most of the meteors were not that bright and had a very faint tail. Were I live, I get to see meteors somewhat frequently because of the good viewing conditions. It was a perfect evening to watch—no clouds and I live in the country, so no city lights. It was boring! I saw a meteor about once a minute and very few were spectacular. I have a friend that did the same thing but watched until 4:00 am. His take was the same as mine—overrated.
