Been thinking about that. The traditional Spanish version of Philip is “Felipé”; Fay - Lee - Pay, emphasis on the final syllable.
The use of the diphthong “ei” in the second syllable (pronounced like an "a") instead of just the “i” (pronounced like a long “e”) would tend to imply that it is pronounced “Fay - Lay - Pay.” The lack of accent mark, if intentional, would put the emphasis on the next to last syllable, so “fay - LAY - pay.” Best I can recall from college… I do remember my “diptongos,” though. -Zéb That includes four-star quarterback Feleipe Franks > On Dec 22, 2015, at 11:54 AM, Charles Simpson <[email protected]> wrote: > > How do you pronounce his first name? > > Charlie -- -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "GatorTalk" group.
