The Florida Gators kicked off spring practice this week, but two notable players were missing from the action - Antonio Callaway and Treon Harris. Jim McElwain informed the media that Harris, who is supposed to be taking reps with the wide receivers this spring, and Callaway have been absent from the team since January.
McElwain didn't discuss why the two players weren't with the Gators, but on Friday, Callaway's attorney, Huntley Johnson, released a statement addressing the situation. Johnson was firm in stating that Callaway should be with the team. "There is no good reason why this investigation has not been closed," Johnson wrote in regards to his client. "This allegation has no merit." According to Johnson's release, Callaway's suspension, which was handed down on Jan. 27, stems from a code of conduct violation in early December. Both Callaway and Harris are enrolled in classes. Sent From Shane's iPhone Go Gators! & Skål Vikes!
