A source close to the situation, told The Sun that Callaway’s full return to
the team is not necessarily imminent at this point.

What do you make of this, Jay?

Suspended Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway has moved closer to a possible
return.

Callaway’s interim suspension has been modified so that he can attend classes
on campus, his attorney, Huntley Johnson, announced via email Tuesday.

The modification also allows the sophomore from Miami to make use of the
facilities at the university.

Callaway’s return to campus was confirmed by UF spokesman Steve McClain.

“He’s allowed to use the athletic facilities and he will be around the
program,” McClain said.

In the email sent by Johnson & Osteryoung, P.A. Attorneys at Law, Johnson said:
“We are working through the process that the University has in place to reach a
final resolution in this matter. There will be no further comment at this time.”

A source close to the situation, told The Sun that Callaway’s full return to
the team is not necessarily imminent at this point.

Callaway has been suspended since January for a possible student conduct code
violation. A UF investigation is ongoing in the matter.

Junior quarterback/wide receiver Treon Harris, who is not represented by
Johnson, also has been suspended since January. His status has not changed, a
source told The Sun.

During his true freshman season last fall, Callaway emerged as a potential
future star for the Gators. He was the team’s third-leading receiver, catching
35 passes for 678 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned two punts for
touchdowns, one in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama.

Callaway remained enrolled at UF during the spring semester and took classes
online. UF coach Jim McElwain said last week at the SEC spring meetings that
Callaway is not enrolled in Summer A. The Summer B semester begins June 27.

The Gators’ preseason camp begins in early August.
