The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Hillsborough product had reportedly narrowed his top four schools to Clemson, South Florida, Tennessee and Florida, with the Gators and Tigers emerging as the favorites for his commitment. Carter participated in Clemson coach Dabo Swinney's football camp held June 15 and took an official visit to Death Valley for the team's 23-13 win over Florida State last season. But UF has been recruiting him aggressively as well, with defensive line coach Chris Rumph making the trip to Tampa on May 19 to see Carter compete in Hillsborough's 14-0 win over Wharton High.
