I think I would have to vote for SOS. I could only imagine how great a leader
he would be for us with today’s team. He had some decent talent around him but
I suspect few of them were anything close to what the athletes today. Also, I
am amazed that Emmit, JL Williams, or Neal Anderson did not make the list.
Even Fred Taylor should have been given some love. I think people forget how
versatile JL Williams was for the Gators. He could catch as well as run. Other
names that should have been there: Jack Youngblood, Lomas Brown, …

Daily Football Fix: Which UF player would you bring back?

Quarterback Tim Tebow would be a no-brainer to bring back.

There is no draft. There are no free agent signings. No trades.

The only way to build a college football team is through recruiting (plus the
occasional walk-on who is more than practice fodder).

But if you could bring back a former Gator player in his prime to add to Jim
McElwain’s 2016 team, who would it be?

With the help of the radio listeners on Dooley and Collett, here’s one list:

1. Tim Tebow: We have no idea what to expect from the quarterback position and
while there might be former UF quarterbacks better suited to the McElwain
offense, having Tebow in your locker room and huddle would be a huge boost.

2. Wes Chandler: Florida needs playmakers. There weren’t many better than
Chandler. And he comes without the baggage of a Percy Harvin.

3. Maurkice Pouncey: The offensive line is another question and what would be
better than to anchor it with an all-time great?

4. Jevon Kearse: The Freak could do so many things. He gives you an elite
pass-rusher and a guy who can play outside linebacker and bat down passes.

5. Reggie Nelson: The best safety at UF erased a lot of mistakes. Think of him
and Jalen Tabor in the same secondary.
